Therefore, while discussing a habit or disposition, give an analysis. In my previous example, the Monday morning jalapeño and swim show the enthusiasm I bring to customer encounters.

3. Keep in mind that nothing is permanent.

You might remember how your third-grade teacher made you feel, even if you can’t remember their name. Perhaps you can still recall the satisfaction of obtaining an A on a test or the embarrassment of getting in trouble at recess.

The things you say and do won’t stick in people’s minds, but they won’t forget how you made them feel. “I’ve realized that people will forget what you say and what you did.”

This wise advice is unquestionably applicable to a LinkedIn profile. Because of this, LinkedIn provides a section for work history.

4. Steer clear of clichés.

Cliché: the ominous rumble. People tend to shut out everything they read or hear that they can simply do themselves. Every industry has its own specific cliches. Make a list of the expressions that are cliches in your field. Look for words or phrases that appear often in the bios of experts in your industry.

You could come across a sea of “Results-driven” or “passionate about healthcare” individuals. Make sure to take notes on everything you find so you will know what to steer clear of.

Remember that clichés were originally helpful statements that assisted people in defining a characteristic, an occasion or an emotion, but when they are overused, they lose their meaning and impact.

It can no longer be connected to a mental image or emotional state by the reader. Take action if you see that people in your organization often say, “I’m a team player.” Avoid using the term “team” even if you want to underline the fact that you work best in a collaborative atmosphere.

Regardless of whether your main objective is to expand your network or locate your next job, you should employ keywords on LinkedIn. However, resorting to cliches could be harmful.

5. Establish a goal.

On LinkedIn, who are you trying to connect with? What are you hoping to learn? The goal of someone seeking a job might be to find employment. However, you must do 10 less significant jobs before someone hires you. Keep in mind the action you want the person you are meeting to take after hearing your message. Do you want them to invite you to an interview? Do you have any suggestions? Give more information now.
